Workout of the Day

Half Moon

Written By Nelson  |  Toes To Bar

5 rounds for time:

7 Toes to Bar
15 Dual Dumbbell Push Press
7 Toes to Bar
15 Dual Dumbbell Deadlifts

Load: 50/35lbs

WODprep Strategy Top Tips:

Warm-up (10 minutes): Today’s warmup will be centered around the toes to bar. Hit some kip levers and banded lat pull downs. Once you hit a few toes to bar, get out a lighter pair of dumbells to warm up the deadlifts and the push presses.

Stimulus: Pacing and gymnastic’s density

Strategy: Despite smaller rep ranges, there is a lot of volume in today’s piece. Make the sure toes to bar is a rep range that can be held unbroken or in 2 sets the entire time; otherwise, drop the reps down as needed. The push press may be strategically broken, but the deadlifts should be done unbroken.

  • Toes to Bar– Aim for smart sets here, and breaking at the right time as you get to those larger rounds if needed.

  • Dual Dumbbell Push Press- Ensure to use your hips to drive the dumbells to their overhead lockout position. MAke sure you stand to full knee and hip extension before returning the dumbbells to your shoulders.
